Final Itinerary for UNO Norway Trip 2009

Fri 8th May Be at the airport ready to check in as a group at 4:45 PM

Depart Omaha. Layover in MSP and Amsterdam

Sat 9th May Bus tour of Amsterdam during layover.
Arrival in Kristiansand 22.05. Transport to accomodation.
Sun 10th May Boat trip in the skerries 11-16. Lunch at Groenningen lighthouse.
Pizza dinner downtown Kristiansand.
Guided city walk.
Mon 11th May 9-9.30: Visit by Hilary Olsin-Windecker, Public Affairs Officer, US Embassy

9.30-11: Keynote by Assistant professor Andreas Aase on Norwegian values and culture

11.30-14: Corporate visit at Aker Solutions

11.30-12.15: Lunch with general presentation of Aker Solutions / Aker MH

12.15-14.00: Demo of Drilling Simulator;
Aker MHs challenges related to global split locations/virtual teams

17 -> : Beach volleyball tournament and BBQ with UiA students

Tue 12th May 9.15-11: Keynote by Associate Professor Øystein Sæbø on eDemocracy and eParticipation

11-12: Lunch at campus

12-15: Service learning at school, etc.

15-18: Shopping in Kristiansand.

18 -> : Dinner and social event at Gimlemoen campus with UiA students.

Wed 13th May 9-10.30: Keynote by Associate Professor Jan Erik Grindheim: European Integration and Regional Development11-11.30: Corporate visit at Elkem solar

11: Welcome by Director of technology, Ragnar Tronstad

11.15: Presentation of the Elkem Solar Process, solar cells and related environmental issues

12.15: Lunch

14-15: Visit at the Arkivet museum, the Gestapo WWII regional headquarters

Visit at Kristiansand Zoo with dinner.

Thu 14th May Bus departure for Stavanger. Sightseeing in Stavanger.

Afternoon: 2hr city walk (see tour description Stavanger City Tour)
Dinner at the hotel

Fri 15th May 10.30: Visit at the Norwegian Petroleum Museum
12.00: Corporate visit and lunch at StatoilHydro
15.00: Sightseeing/shopping on your own in Stavanger
Dinner at the hotel

Sat 16th May Visit to Pulpit Rock
Return to KRS

It turns out we will NOT return to Stavanger on
the way back from Pulpit Rock, meaning that if any of the students do
not feel up to the 4 hr hike they need to wait at the Pulpit Rock cabin.

Further, should the weather be totally against us with pouring rain, we
may consider doing a boat cruise instead. But we hope for sunny days!
