UiA-UNO Grant

July 29th, 2013

In 2008 the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU) awarded the University of Agder $295,000 from 2008-2011 for their collaboration with the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  This funding allowed UiA and UNO to extend and enhance the partnership that already exists between the two universities.

In 2012, an additional $25000 was awarded to continue the collaboration between the UiA and UNO, as well as the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) by developing a joint multidisciplinary Masters’ level course in International Health Informatics for all three universities. The course will emphasize the growing need  to view health informatics as an international issue.

SIU’s statement of funding for the new project states:

– Through developing a course that can be offered at UNO, UNMC, and UiA, commonalities and differences in healthcare on either side of the Atlantic will be explored and compared. The course will provide a forum for advanced Masters’ students on all three campuses to discuss current issues and challenges in healthcare information systems in preparation for their theses.

Through this program the three universities will have the opportunity to establish new activities for students, faculty and joint research.
